The India-France Year of Innovation 2026 aims to instill a new mantra in the bilateral relationship, placing innovation at its core. This landmark year will serve as an occasion to recognize and celebrate collaboration between India and France across all aspects of their respective innovation ecosystems. It will encourage deeper exchanges and inspire new projects in emerging and traditional sectors, marked by a series of programs and events mobilizing stakeholders from both public and private domains.
 
As a flagship initiative of the Year of Innovation 2026, the Indo–French Innovation Network serves as a dynamic gateway for collaboration, bringing together startups, corporates, investors, and academia from both nations. The platform aims to foster meaningful partnerships, accelerate knowledge exchange, and create opportunities that translate ideas into impactful outcomes for business, society, and planet.

In order to facilitate Ministry of electronics & Information Technology’s vision of promoting technology innovation, start-ups and creation of Intellectual Properties, a nodal entity called ‘MeitY Start-up Hub’ (MSH) has been setup under its aegis. The Embassy of France in India is the diplomatic representation of the French Republic to the Republic of India. Located in New Delhi, the country's capital, the mission has been headed by Mr Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, since 2023.
Under the authority of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the French Embassy in India works to strengthen and develop the strategic partnership between France and India.
It is responsible for representing and promoting French interests in areas such as diplomacy, economy, defence, culture, education, science and innovation, while providing local public services to French nationals in India. Through the work of its diplomats and all its departments, the Embassy monitors and analyses foreign and domestic policy, and presents French policy guidelines to the Indian authorities.
To this end, the Embassy maintains close and regular relations with the central and local authorities, as well as with actors from the economic, academic, scientific, cultural and civil society spheres, thereby contributing to deepening dialogue and cooperation between France and India.

The French Institute in India (Institut français en Inde – IFI) is the Culture and Cooperation Service of the Embassy of France in India, dedicated to promoting meaningful exchanges between India and France. As the cultural, educational, and scientific branch of the French diplomatic mission, IFI engages in various bilateral collaborations, including academic and scientific partnerships among universities and research institutions, promoting student exchanges, and teaching the French language in India. Operating nationwide, IFI supports cooperation in research, higher education, innovation, vocational training, and cultural engagement, thereby strengthening connections between Indian and French universities, laboratories, and public agencies. IFI also directly supports Campus France India programs, assisting thousands of Indian students with admissions and mobility into French higher education. The Institut français en Inde facilitates structured academic and scientific cooperation programs that bridge Indian and French educational systems, fostering research partnerships, dual-degree programs, joint curriculum projects, and expanding connections between universities in both countries.
Business France is the public agency dedicated to supporting the international growth of the French economy. Established in 2015 from the merger of Ubifrance and the Invest in France Agency, it operates as a public establishment under the French ministries of economy and foreign affairs. The agency aims to enhance the global presence of French businesses, particularly mid-sized enterprises and high-growth SMEs, by facilitating their access to international markets and promoting key sectors. Additionally, Business France attracts foreign investment to France and manages international mobility programs, including the VIE International Internship Program. With its extensive global network, Business France enhances France's economic attractiveness and fosters innovation-driven growth. In India, Business France has organized strategic trade events like the French Clean Energy Days India 2023, in collaboration with the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI), focusing on fostering collaborations in the energy sector between Indian and French industries.
