CMA CGM is inaugurating its new R&D hub in Chennai, expanding its innovation and research capabilities in India as part of the Group’s global R&D strategy. The CMA CGM Group’s R&D department, based in Marseille, France, is dedicated to identifying and developing innovations to optimize group assets and operations (vessels, terminals, warehouses, etc). The department acts as an interface between the different Group’s business entities, providing technological screening, feasibility studies, technical specifications and proof of concepts. The Group R&D scope covers a wide range of fields, including decarbonization (energy efficiency, alternative fuels), digital transformation, robotics, automation, and operational performance improvement. The new Chennai hub will strengthen the Group’s global innovation capabilities, supporting both local projects and Group-wide R&D activities, while contributing to Indo-French cooperation in maritime technology and sustainable logistics.
