Airbus opens 5,000 seater technology centre near Bengaluru

Critical technologies in every Airbus aircraft and helicopter will be designed and developed by Indian engineers at this centre in Bengaluru which is Airbus’s largest digital and engineering centre outside Europe.

Airbus opened a 5,000 seater technology centre in the outskirts of Bengaluru on Friday (March 6, 2026), marking a major expansion of its strategic footprint in India, where the European aerospace corporation, has already over 30,000 employees.The new 8,80,000 sq. ft facility will serve as a hub for engineering, digital transformation, customer services and procurement and it will serve as a new nerve centre for the company’s ‘Make in India’ mission, according to company leadership.

Jürgen Westermeier, president and managing director of Airbus in India and South Asia said, the opening of Airbus India Technology Centre represented a strategic acceleration in the company’s journey in India. “It provides the scale and headroom for our next phase of growth. This centre will allow us to scale existing technological competencies and innovation ecosystems. It ensures that Indian expertise continues to be woven into every stage of our global value chain,’’ he said.
