Description
Indian aerospace and technology firm Zeta U Technology has developed an Indigenous LiDAR-based drone platform in collaboration with Sorbonne University, France, marking a significant step in India’s growing capabilities in advanced unmanned aerial systems and geospatial intelligence technologies. The jointly developed unmanned aerial system integrates high-precision LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology with advanced flight control systems to enable high-resolution 3D mapping, terrain modelling, and infrastructure inspection across industrial and government sectors.
The drone platform has been designed for industrial-grade applications, including smart city development, mining surveys, environmental monitoring, powerline inspection, and large-scale geospatial data collection.
According to Sivasankar G. A., Chief Executive Officer of Zeta U Technology, the collaboration reflects the growing role of international research partnerships in accelerating aerospace and drone innovation.
“This collaboration with Sorbonne University represents a significant milestone in advancing indigenous drone technologies and strengthening India’s capabilities in LiDAR-enabled aerial intelligence systems,” he said.
The project combines European academic research expertise with India’s emerging aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, focusing on sensor integration, autonomous navigation, and high-accuracy geospatial data processing.
The development also aligns with India’s broader push toward self-reliant aerospace and unmanned systems technology, while strengthening India-France cooperation in advanced aerospace research and drone innovation.
Zeta U Technology said the LiDAR drone platform will support future developments in autonomous aerial systems, advanced surveying technologies, and next-generation unmanned aviation platforms.
